Import an existing account

Note: At the moment Empathy can import accounts only from the instant messaging program Pidgin. For more information about Pidgin, see the Pidgin website.

From the Contact List window, do one of the following:

Press F4.

Choose EditAccounts.

Choose Import Accounts... and wait a few seconds until the Import Accounts dialog opens with a list of accounts that can be imported.

Choose the accounts to import by clicking on the Import check-box.

Press OK to return to the Accounts dialog. Choose the accounts to enable by clicking the Enabled check-box. A dialog opens to add or change Nickname, Password, Real name and Quit message.

Press Close to return to the Contact List window.

If you want to change the name that identifies the account in the Accounts dialog, double-click on the name of the account in the box on the left of the dialog and type the new name.
